Google officially confirms price increases for Pixel smartphones: what should buyers prepare for?

Google has officially confirmed what many fans of the brand feared: the era of affordable prices for the Pixel line will have to be left in the past. The company’s vice president for devices and services, Shakil Barkat, said that the corporation is forced to make a “price adjustment” due to an unprecedented increase in the price of RAM and general production costs.

Why are Google Pixel smartphones becoming more expensive?

According to Barkat, Google has long tried to contain the cost of its gadgets, protecting users from market fluctuations. However, “fundamental shifts in the economy” left no other choice. Rising costs for key components, in particular memory chips, forced the company to change its pricing policy.

Expected changes in pricing for the Pixel 11 series

The upcoming announcement of the Pixel 11 series, scheduled for August 12, will mark the start of a new era of prices. The leaks make it clear what buyers can expect:

  • Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold will rise in price by approximately $100.
  • The base Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro models will lose the version with 128 GB of memory. This means that the minimum cost of entry into the series will increase by $100.
  • At the same time, the company is trying to optimize the characteristics: Pixel 11 Pro will receive 12 GB of RAM instead of 16 GB in the previous generation.

Despite the general trend, Google promises to compensate for the inconvenience through promotions and profitable exchange programs (trade-in) to soften the effect of rising prices for loyal customers.

Should we expect price increases for all Pixel devices?wöw

Yes, the policy of price adjustments will affect not only new items. The company has officially confirmed that the changes will be dynamic and will apply to current models, including the popular Pixel 10a. The exact increase numbers have not yet been announced for each model, but the dynamics indicate Google’s systematic approach to combating component inflation.
