Future glasses from Samsung and Google: AI, translation and hands-free navigation
22.05.26
At the technological exhibition-conference Google I/O 2026, industry giants Samsung and Google officially presented the results of joint development – modern smart glasses with built-in Gemini artificial intelligence based on the latest Android XR operating system. For the first time, the plans for this device became known last fall, when Samsung announced that it was working on the project together with the brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
The new portable solution was created as a smart personal assistant, taking into account the capabilities of artificial intelligence. Smart glasses are a modern accompanying gadget-companion that functions in a pair with a mobile phone. The device is designed so that the owner can perform everyday tasks and interact with the smartphone without having to constantly look at the screen and hold it in his hands.
Technical specifications
Smart glasses are distinguished by a minimal, almost everyday design. They contain all the basic tools necessary for a modern mobile assistant:
- Hardware base: optimized Android XR operating system.
- Hands-free control: Continuous integration of the Gemini assistant, which can recognize and respond to complex voice requests in the background.
- Multimedia: the presence of a single wide-angle camera with an LED indicator for photo and video recording. The LED indicator serves as a recording activity signal to protect the privacy of others.

Features of AI integration
The integration of cloud computing and the Gemini platform allowed companies to create a productive gadget for various situations:
- Real-time mode: smart glasses allow you to create calendar events, make auto-orders right while walking, trigger quick actions and quickly view a summary of your messages.
- Convenient voice navigation: routing and identifying main points of interest on the streets of nearby cities.
- Instant audio and visual translation: smart glasses translate conversations on the fly. The built-in camera automatically translates texts appearing on posters, signs and signs without using physical interfaces in live frame mode.

Available design versions of smart glasses
To satisfy the different tastes of consumers, the developers presented the device in two full-fledged directions of aesthetics, developed by recognized optical brands:
- An original and progressive version in collaboration with the Gentle Monster brand.
- A classic elegant modification with the Warby Parker optical brand for fans of traditional and discreet eyewear styles.
Price and release date
Manufacturers are going to start retail sales of new products already this fall. The final prices, regional policies, the cost of the device and specifications in full technical form are currently not reported. More precise and detailed information will be released by the brands at an additional separate presentation a few weeks before the launch of the autumn sale.
