Facebook Verified: How to Get a New Free Identity Verification Badge

Meta has introduced the Facebook Verified feature – a new free badge that confirms that there is a real person behind a social network profile. This is an important step to increase transparency and combat fake accounts within the Meta ecosystem.

What is Facebook Verified?

This function is a special verification badge. Unlike paid subscriptions with checkboxes, which are often found in other services, this status emphasizes the authenticity of the user as an individual. Receiving a badge confirms that the owner meets the trust criteria, but Meta clarifies: the status does not mean approval of the user or a guarantee of his integrity.

Facebook verification process

How verification works

To activate the status, the user must go through a selfie-based identity verification process. You need to record a short video, during which the system’s algorithms will compare your face with the photos already uploaded to your profile. The procedure is automated and takes only a few minutes.

User requirements

To qualify for a badge, the following conditions must be met:

  • Be over 18 years old.
  • Maintain an excellent reputation according to the Community Standards (no fraud, deception or misleading practices).
  • No signs of inauthentic behavior.

It is worth considering that at the current stage, the innovation is not available for brand pages or profiles switched to ProMode.

Where the icon is displayed

Once verified, the badge will appear on Facebook Marketplace, Dating, Groups, and on your profile page. In the future, the developers plan to add its integration into the news feed (Feed).

Function availability

The rollout is happening in stages. Users in select regions will be the first to have access to the feature, followed by global rollout.
