The new Sony Xperia 1 VIII is fully revealed on Amazon: the specifications and the price are surprising

Flagship smartphone Sony Xperia 1 VIII appeared on Amazon’s European sites in Great Britain and Germany. On the store pages, the key specifications of the device, available colors and the exact date of the start of deliveries were published. Despite the lack of an official announcement, the publication on Amazon revealed a lot of details about the upcoming Sony novelty, which bets on intelligent shooting functions and proprietary multimedia capabilities.

Information about the Xperia 1 VIII was discovered by Notebookcheck. According to data from the British and German versions of Amazon, Sony continues to adhere to the well-known concept of the Xperia series: an elongated display, the presence of a 3.5 mm audio jack and an emphasis on multimedia functions. At the same time, the smartphone will receive modern AI capabilities for the camera and energy saving.

It is interesting that instead of images of the smartphone itself, photos of headphones were placed on the Amazon pages. This may indicate the sale of the device as part of a special kit.

Technical specifications

The Sony Xperia 1 VIII features a 6.5-inch FHD+ HDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone received a triple camera, including a new telephoto lens. According to preliminary data, Sony uses 48-MP sensors to increase the detail and quality of shooting.

One ​​of the main features of the device will be the Xperia AI system. Artificial intelligence will be responsible for automatic photo optimization and intelligent energy management. Sony promises up to two days of battery life without recharging.

Judging by the published data, the Xperia 1 VIII will receive an updated square camera unit. Amazon confirms three color options:

• Lilac-Silver;
• Graphite Black;
• Pomegranate Red.

Release date and price

Amazon pages indicate the start date of delivery – June 26. That’s when the first buyers will be able to receive a smartphone after placing a pre-order.

The cost of the novelty turned out to be quite high. On the British Amazon, the price was 1,728 pounds – about UAH 92,110 ($2,210). In Germany, the smartphone was estimated at 1858–1868 euros, which is equivalent to approximately UAH 82,050–82,490 ($1,970–1,980).

The high price can be explained by the extended configuration. Sony is expected to sell the Xperia 1 VIII alongside Sony’s flagship WH-1000XM6 headphones. The Amazon description also mentions support for two SIM cards and the presence of a 3.5 mm audio jack. At the same time, there is no information about the microSD slot yet.
