Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2: a new Qualcomm chip and a powerful battery

Review of Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2: characteristics

Samsung is preparing for the official presentation of the new smart watch series Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, which will take place on July 22. Thanks to the publication of Winfuture, the official technical characteristics of the devices became known even before the start of sales.

Hardware platform and processor

The key change is Samsung’s abandonment of its own Exynos chips. The novelties work on the 3-nanometer Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite (SW6100) processor, which was introduced in March 2026. The chip received five cores: one productive with a frequency of 2.1 GHz and four energy-efficient with a frequency of up to 1.95 GHz. The architecture supports 64 bits, which provides better energy efficiency and overall speed of the interface.

Characteristics of displays and autonomy

The screen panels have remained the same, but the battery capacity has increased in a number of models:

  • Galaxy Watch 9 (40 mm): 1.3-inch screen (438 × 438 pixels), 325 mAh battery
  • Galaxy Watch 9 (44 mm): 1.5-inch screen (480 × 480 pixels), 445 mAh battery
  • Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: 1.5-inch screen (480 × 480 pixels), 800 mAh battery

The most significant update affected the Ultra version, where the battery was increased from 590 to 800 mAh, which promises a longer period of operation without recharging.

Housing and protection

Galaxy Watch 9 models received an aluminum case with 5 ATM protection. In turn, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is dressed in a titanium case with protection that allows it to withstand immersion to a depth of 100 meters.

Technical parameters and versions

All novelties are equipped with modern communication modules: Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi. LTE versions also support mobile networks. The amount of memory is 2/32 GB or 2/64 GB, depending on the modification. The gadgets run on Android Wear with Samsung’s One UI Watch 9.0 skin and include a full range of sensors for health monitoring, including an ECG function.

Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 prices

Model Price
Galaxy Watch 9 (40mm) 17,840 hryvnias (409 euros)
Galaxy Watch 9 (44mm) 19,150 hryvnias (439 euros)
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 32,680 hryvnias (749 euros)

The purchase of these new products seems justified for those who are looking for maximum autonomy thanks to increased batteries and are ready to evaluate the performance of the new processor from Qualcomm.
