Samsung expands functionality: Google Cast is coming to more than just new TVs
06.04.26
Support for Google Cast, initially associated with Samsung’s 2026 TV lineup, is now rolling out to earlier models as well. The company has started distributing the update to devices from previous years.
Older TVs are getting the update
Samsung has begun releasing a major One UI Tizen update for its 2023 TVs, introducing Google Cast support. Similar updates are also reaching 2024 models.
The feature is no longer limited to upcoming devices and is becoming available to owners of existing TVs.
First confirmations from users

A Reddit user shared an image showing Google Cast running on a 2024 S90D OLED TV.
This serves as one of the first visual confirmations that the update is indeed rolling out to current models.
What changes for users
With Google Cast support, Samsung TV owners gain a more convenient way to stream content from various devices.
Supported sources include:
- Android smartphones and tablets
- the Chrome browser
- ChromeOS devices
Previously, similar functionality was limited to Galaxy devices via Smart View. Now content streaming is no longer tied to a specific device lineup.
Possible expansion to other devices
According to reports, Google Cast may also arrive on Samsung smart monitors running Tizen OS in the future.
Such an approach makes cross-device interaction more flexible and simplifies working with content regardless of the device type.
