Prices of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8 Wide and Z Flip 8: how much will the new items cost in Europe

Samsung’s next generation of foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 series, are expected to be officially launched at the Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, July 22 this year. Thanks to a recent leak published by Winfuture, estimated prices for the European market have become known.

Expected cost of new Samsung smartphones

According to insider information, the basic models of the new series will be €100 more expensive than the previous year’s counterparts. Thus, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 with a memory capacity of 256 GB is priced at 1,299 euros (about 57,300 hryvnia / $1,370), and the top-end Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is priced at 2,199 euros (about 97,000 hryvnia / $2,320). The cost of upgrading a drive has increased significantly: the surcharge for upgrading to 512 GB is now 200 euros, while previously this upgrade cost only 120 euros. The price of the maximum version of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with 1 TB storage reaches 2,799 euros (about 123,500 hryvnia / $2,955), which is 280 euros more expensive than the Fold7 model.

Differences in versions: why is Fold8 Wide cheaper?

The new addition to the line, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide, is positioned as a more affordable solution. It costs 200 euros less than the Ultra model in all memory configurations. The difference in price is explained by the simplified technical part: the absence of a telephoto lens and the reduced diagonal of the screens.

Results: is it worth buying?

An average price increase of 100-280 euros makes the new Galaxy Z series smartphones one of the most expensive on the market. However, expanding the line with Ultra and Wide versions allows users to choose a device depending on their photography priorities and dimensions, which to a certain extent justifies the company’s new marketing strategy.
