One UI 8.5 is official: list of Galaxy S25, S24 and foldable models
09.05.26
The beta testing program has officially ended, and Samsung has begun the full-scale release of the stable version of the One UI 8.5 firmware. The long-awaited update, which users have been testing since December, is now available to owners of a wide range of high-tech gadgets: from the current flagship Galaxy S25 series to last year’s Galaxy S24 models and premium tablets.
One UI 8.5 update overview
Samsung One UI 8.5 is the latest version of the user interface based on the latest Android achievements. The firmware is designed to provide smoother performance, improved energy efficiency and new features for the Samsung ecosystem. Previously, this version was exclusive to the Galaxy S26 line, but now the Korean giant is extending these features to a wider range of owners of top-end devices.
List of supported devices and characteristics
The update to One UI 8.5 covers almost the entire current line of the company’s flagship solutions. The list of supported equipment includes:
- Galaxy S25 line of smartphones;
- Galaxy S24 Family
- New generation folding smartphones: Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7;
- Folding models from the previous year: Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6;
- Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S10 series of professional tablets.
These devices will now be able to enjoy the same software benefits as the latest Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, which originally launched with One UI 8.5 pre-installed.
Release date and geography of release
The official start of the update rollout began a few days ago, on May 6, 2026, in South Korea. Traditionally, Samsung first releases a stable build in the home market. If no critical errors are found within the first few days, the update will become available in other regions, including Europe and America. A complete transition of all compatible models to One UI 8.5 is expected in the coming weeks.
Availability
The One UI 8.5 update is provided to users free of charge in OTA (Over-the-Air) format. Checking for new firmware is available in the phone settings menu. It is worth noting that the availability of the function may depend on the telecom operator and the region where the device was purchased. Since this software is a system update, there is no need to pay for upgrading to a new version.
Differences and comparison of versions
One UI 8.5 on older devices is as close as possible to the experience Samsung intended for the S26 series. If the flagships of the current year (S26) received the system out of the box, then for the S25 and S24 this update was the result of long-term polishing – the One UI 8.5 beta program for them lasted almost six months. Owners of the S24 and Fold6/Flip6 series will see the most significant changes in interface performance compared to previous builds.
Is it worth upgrading right now
Considering that Samsung has carried out extensive bug fixes through closed and open beta tests since December, One UI 8.5 is ready for everyday use. We recommend waiting for the official notification about the availability of the update in your region and updating your device to improve security and get new shell features. It is recommended that you back up your data before starting the update process.
