McDonald’s Turkey introduces “Archie” — a gadget for controlling gamepads while eating
07.04.26
In Turkey, McDonald’s has unveiled a unique accessory for gamers — Archie, which allows players to control their in-game characters with a single finger without interrupting their meal.
A solution for gaming breaks
Many online gamers face the problem of their characters going idle or dying during quick snack breaks. The new M-shaped gadget attaches to the joystick and enables basic in-game actions with a finger, avoiding direct contact with the buttons.
In Turkish McDonald’s restaurants, Archie is available together with the Pro Gamer Menu, which includes a Big Mac, medium fries, a medium cola, and 8 onion rings. According to Ozdesh Dyonen Artak, McDonald’s Turkey’s marketing director, even brief distractions during online gaming can impact performance, making a solution that lets players continue their game while eating highly sought after.
What Archie can do
The gadget does not guarantee full protection for a character during intense gameplay, but it helps prevent accidental button presses and unwanted interruptions. Overall, the device simplifies control when hands are busy with food, minimizing the risk of damaging the controller.
Additionally, the accessory may influence eating speed — players might eat more slowly to maintain control over their character, which can occasionally annoy teammates.
McDonald’s gaming marketing
This isn’t McDonald’s first experience integrating gaming themes into its marketing. In 2022, McDonald’s UK launched the McCrispy gaming chair with a sandwich warmer and a french fry holder.
