Google Photo Wardrobe: Personal Digital Stylist

Google announced the introduction of the innovative Wardrobe function in Google Photos, which will turn the user’s photo library into a full-fledged digital catalog of clothes and accessories based on artificial intelligence.

Google Wardrobe

Wardrobe is an intelligent assistant built into Google Photos. The system uses neural networks to scan the user’s entire media library for items of clothing. AI identifies items and automatically creates a structured list, dividing them into the appropriate sections: outerwear, pants, T-shirts, shoes and accessories. Each item is given a visual thumbnail for easy searching.

Unlike a simple image search, Wardrobe offers deep integration and interactivity. Key features include creating item cards, maintaining style and fabric type metadata (where possible), and creating relationships between wardrobe items. The function is aimed at simplifying the process of choosing clothes for every day.

Release date

According to official data, the launch of the function is expected in the summer of 2026. It is worth considering that the launch may happen in stages, starting with certain regions and users with a Google One subscription, although mandatory payments have not been reported at the moment.

Virtual fitting and combinations

.

The key feature of Wardrobe is the virtual fitting room. The system can generate a realistic image of the user in a selected combination of clothes from the catalog. This allows you to evaluate the image before wearing things in reality. It is also possible to save ready sets (outfits) and share them with friends or stylists.

Limitations and nuances of the version

The function has an important technical limitation: only those things that have been captured at least once in a photo in your library are included in the catalog. The system does not allow you to manually add clothes from external sources without an image. In addition, Wardrobe will be available for Android users first, with an iOS version coming soon.
