Unitree Super Athlete AS2-W: A robot dog with breakdancing skills
28.07.26
The Chinese developer Unitree has officially presented its new solution in the field of mobile robotics – the Super Athlete AS2-W model. This is an advanced robot that combines the capabilities of a classic four-legged mechanism with the efficiency of wheel travel.
Positioning

AS2-W is a maneuverable machine designed to quickly overcome difficult terrain. The main feature of the model is the unique hybrid chassis: the articulated legs have wheels. This allows the work to develop high speed on flat surfaces and confidently move over stone, sand or overcome water obstacles.
Technical characteristics and capabilities

AS2-W has impressive performance thanks to its modern architecture:
- Movement speed: up to 6 m/s.
- Load capacity: static load up to 150 kg.
- Passability: able to overcome slopes up to 45 degrees and obstacles up to 80 cm high.
- Weight: about 25 kg (including battery).
- Drive: 16 motors with low inertia.
- Autonomy: The 15,000 mAh lithium-ion battery provides up to 3 hours of operation without load (about 30 km) and more than 2 hours when transporting a load of 16 kg (about 25 km).
- Temperature range: from -20 to +55 °C with protection class IP54.
Intelligent systems and navigation
The robot is equipped with the latest technology for autonomous interaction with the environment:
- Sensors: Industry leader (64-128 lines) and HD cameras.
- Communications: Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, 4G, GPS.
- Processing: 8-core processor and ISS 3.0 learning system.
- Additionally: built-in speakers, microphones and light modules.
Price

At the moment, the official price of Unitree Super Athlete AS2-W is not disclosed by the manufacturer. Taking into account the declared technical parameters, the company positions the device for a wide range of tasks: from professional search and rescue operations and logistics to amateur forays into nature.
Prospects of use

The developers are actively implementing the reinforcement learning method, which allows the car to instantly adapt to changing road conditions. With support for a set of developer tools, AS2-W can be programmed to solve specific AI tasks, making it a flexible tool for industrial sectors and research groups.
