Samsung beats Apple in cost of service

Research: why?

A recent study of the cost of repairing popular gadgets showed unexpected results for fans of the South Korean giant’s products. Samsung smartphone owners spend significantly more on restoring their devices than iPhone users. The gap in the cost of services can reach a significant 60%, which makes the use of Apple more profitable in the long run, even if the initial price of the gadget was high.

Research

The data was provided by the insurance company Insuranceopedia, and their analysis was shared by the publication SamMobile. The report examines in detail the costs of servicing gadgets within the framework of corporate support programs. According to the collected statistics, Apple service centers offer more affordable and transparent conditions, while owners of Samsung devices often face floating tariffs that increase the final check.

Characteristics and conditions of insurance service

The difference in repair costs is most evident when comparing extended warranty and insurance programs — Samsung Care+ vs. AppleCare+. These services cover accidental damage such as broken screens or ingress of moisture.

  • AppleCare+: Uses a fixed rate model that remains stable regardless of region.
  • Samsung Care+: applies a variable rate that depends on the specific type of device and the complexity of the breakdown.

Repair price

Specific figures confirm a significant difference in costs. On average, an AppleCare+ repair costs an iPhone owner approximately UAH 3,000 ($75). At the same time, you have to pay from UAH 4,000 ($100) to UAH 4,800 ($120) to restore the gadget through Samsung Care+. Data shows that Samsung is keeping rates high even for insured customers.

The main differences and features of the service

The main reason for the high cost of the Samsung service is the structure of the product line. The presence of complex devices such as the Galaxy Fold series strongly affects the average market statistics. Complex models have more expensive and rare components, and the complexity of the work requires qualified intervention and specific equipment. Apple does not have such flexible devices, which makes mass maintenance easier and cheaper. In addition, Samsung’s variable interest rate often plays against the user.

Is it worth buying a Samsung smartphone?

When choosing between market leaders, it is worth considering not only the purchase price, but also the cost of ownership. iPhone repairs are cheaper and more predictable thanks to Apple’s fixed rates. If you plan to actively use the device for more than two years and are prone to accidental damage to the gadget, the financial risks with Samsung are much higher. However, it is worth remembering that these studies are based on the estimates of insurance companies and may vary depending on the specific region and service center.
