Microsoft and NVIDIA introduced the powerful Surface Laptop Ultra
04.06.26
Microsoft and NVIDIA made a technological breakthrough by presenting a joint novelty – the innovative Surface Laptop Ultra with the revolutionary RTX Spark chip. The device marks the long-awaited and triumphant return of the corporation to the ARM architecture, but this time with maximum focus on extreme graphics performance, autonomy and features based on neural networks. This premium laptop is designed specifically for the next generation of digital content creators and sets performance records for the entire line of branded PCs from Microsoft.
Surface Laptop Ultra is an advanced 15-inch portable computer of the premium segment, created by Microsoft engineers and NVIDIA graphics architects. For the corporation, this return to the ARM architecture is an extremely important step. In the past, such attempts to integrate energy-efficient mobile processors turned into financial losses and write-offs of about $900 million for Microsoft. Now, in close cooperation with NVIDIA, the company has radically rethought its approach to the Windows on Arm platform.

The new gadget was based on the ambitious idea of bringing user productivity and graphics power to an unprecedented level in the AI segment. Both corporations have over the years optimized the Windows ecosystem for the ARM architecture to offer an impeccably balanced OS without compromising on compatibility and the speed of heavy applications.
NVIDIA RTX Spark specifications and processor
The key technological advantage of the system was the proprietary silicon NVIDIA RTX Spark. Initially, this high-performance hardware solution was developed specifically for DGX Spark microPCs used by developers of deep learning systems. Engineers managed to optimize its topology and reduce power consumption without compromising performance for comfortable operation inside Windows 11.
The new silicon chip offers outstanding hardware options:
- Up to 20 productive general-purpose computing cores (CPU);
- 6,144 dedicated graphics cores of high computational density (GPU);
- Up to 128 GB of combined (unified) memory of ultra-high bandwidth;
- Basic versions with a comfortable minimum RAM of 16 GB.

It is claimed that the overall level of 3D graphics is roughly equivalent to modern discrete GeForce RTX 5070 accelerators for mobile computers. The specific peak performance of the novelty in AI tasks exceeds the threshold of one petaflop. In addition, the developers managed to combine uncompromising speed with record battery life, sufficient for a full working day without the need to connect to the power supply.
Display, design and control features
The model is equipped with a high-quality 15-inch screen based on energy-efficient and bright mini-LED technology, which is characterized by perfect reflection of deep black color and high contrast. With a pixel density of 262 ppi, the screen offers surprisingly smooth detailing of interfaces and visual content. The peak HDR brightness of the panel reaches an unattainable 2000 nits, making this display absolutely the brightest in the entire historical family of PixelSense screens from Surface.

The ergonomic component has also undergone improvements. The computer is equipped with a new ultra-sensitive clickpad panel, which is now the widest solution with high-precision tactile feedback in the entire model portfolio of the company. The novelty is packed in a strict minimalist body weighing about 2 kilograms, available at the start of sales in two stylish monochrome color schemes: dark gray and classic silver.
Available interfaces and connection ports
Despite the refined aesthetic design of the laptop’s metal profile, users will always have a sufficient array of physical ports at hand. The following were used on the body:
- Multifunctional USB-C;
- Universal and popular USB-A interface;
- Standard HDMI connector for monitors and projectors;
- Full-size high-speed SD memory card slot;
- Minijack (3.5 millimeters) for classic headsets and wired speakers.

Currently, Microsoft is hiding detailed technical information regarding standards, versions of ports (such as Thunderbolt) and maximum channel bandwidth, promising to reveal the final parameters just before the debut of the novelty.
Release date and price
Global retail sales of the advanced Surface computer will begin later in the second half of 2026, according to official brand representatives. Actual market deliveries to partners will begin closer to the specified dates.
The exact recommended retail price of the presented basic and top modifications, starting with the 16 GB options and up to the record modifications with 128 GB of combined memory, has not yet been officially disclosed by the developers of the set-top box. Traditionally, products of this price positioning will enter into direct competition with the premium High-End segment of professional equipment.
