Lenovo Legion Y70 (2026): the company returns to gaming smartphones after a long break

After several years of absence in the gaming smartphone segment, Lenovo is preparing to launch a new model — Lenovo Legion Y70 (2026). The device will become the first Legion-branded smartphone in this category since 2022 and part of a broader strategy to bring the brand back into the mobile gaming market.

Legion lineup returns to the mobile segment

Information about the smartphone appeared alongside Lenovo’s preparations for a major May event, where new Legion tablets are also expected to be unveiled. This effectively signals the company’s renewed focus on its gaming ecosystem, extending beyond laptops and accessories into mobile devices.

The teaser for Lenovo Legion Y70 (2026) was published on the Chinese social network Weibo, which manufacturers commonly use for pre-announcements ahead of official launches.

Design remains familiar, with a more flagship-oriented look

Based on available images, the device retains visual continuity with the previous generation. At the same time, its design is closer to modern flagship smartphones than to niche gaming models with aggressive aesthetics.

The rear panel features a square camera module, likely housing three sensors and an LED flash. The camera system is not expected to be the main focus of the device, as Lenovo traditionally prioritizes gaming performance in the Legion lineup.

The smartphone is shown in two color options — silver and black. In both versions, the body features a large Legion logo covering a significant portion of the rear panel. A side button is also visible, which is believed to provide quick access to AI-based functions.

Announcement at a major product event

The official release of Lenovo Legion Y70 (2026) is scheduled for May 19. The presentation will take place during a large-scale event where Lenovo will introduce several new devices, including products under the Motorola brand.

Full technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, but the return of the Legion series to the gaming smartphone segment indicates the company’s intention to re-establish its position in a market that has become significantly more competitive in recent years.
