Children’s bike without motor and pedals from Tesla

Tesla presented an expensive children's balance bike: an entry into the niche of two-wheeled transport

Elon Musk has repeatedly emphasized that Tesla has no plans to produce electric motorcycles or other types of two-wheeled vehicles for safety reasons. The company’s founder has a personal traumatic experience: at the age of 17, he was involved in a serious accident while riding his bicycle and collided with a truck. However, now the brand has taken a step towards the “two-wheel” segment, offering consumers a children’s model.

Tesla Balance Bike is designed for children aged 2 to 5 years. The device does not have a motor or pedals – it is a classic balance bike, which is driven by the child’s legs. The frame of the model is made of magnesium alloy and designed in Tesla’s signature black and white style. The balance bike supports five levels of seat height adjustment and can support weights up to 35 kg.

Price and positioning

The Tesla Balance Bike costs $225. This price puts the product in the highest price segment of the children’s pedalless bicycle market. Most similar competitor models are sold significantly cheaper, and only a few are more expensive, for example, the Woom Go 1 for $249 (but it is equipped with brakes), while the solution from Tesla is completely devoid of a braking system. In fact, parents are overpaying for the brand and logo.

Despite the high cost, the first batch of balance bikes was instantly sold out, and the delivery time for new orders was pushed back to August 2026. Experts note that this cannot be considered a full-fledged entry of the company into the two-wheeler business – rather, it is a way to instill brand loyalty in children from a very early age.
