iReader Tango 2s Revealed: A Compact E-Reader With a Unique Display

IReader continues to expand its lineup of smartphone-sized e-readers. Following the successful releases of the Tango (May 2025) and Tango 2 (October 2025) models, the manufacturer has announced the next generation: the compact Tango 2s.

What Is the iReader Tango 2s?

The new device follows in the footsteps of products like the Boox Palma series, offering users the form factor of a modern smartphone. The design features prominent bezels around the display and a physical button on the bottom chin. The device will be available in black with a textured back cover for a more secure grip.

Tango 2s Display Specs

The standout feature of the iReader Tango 2s is its upgraded screen. The new model uses a monochrome E Ink Carta 1300 matrix with a 5.84-inch diagonal and a pixel density of 300 PPI. According to the manufacturer, this is the first implementation of Carta 1300 at this size and resolution.

Technical Nuances and Comparisons

While a detailed spec sheet has not yet been released, it is logical to assume some changes compared to the Tango 2. With the screen size reduced to 5.84 inches (down from the predecessor’s 6.13 inches), the chassis is more compact, which may lead to a smaller battery capacity. For context, the Tango 2 featured a 3900 mAh battery. The device likely lacks a camera, maintaining the tradition of the Tango series, unlike its competitor, the Boox Palma 2 Pro, which is available on Amazon for $399.99.

Tango 2s Availability

As of now, iReader has not provided official information regarding the release date or pricing. The device could appeal to users looking for a portable reading solution with an eye-friendly E-Ink screen in a pocketable format. However, Tango e-readers are currently not officially available in the Ukrainian market and remain something of a niche product.
