AMD Radeon graphics cards sold three times less in 2025
12.03.26
Analytical company Jon Peddie Research has published a new report on the state of the discrete graphics card market. Data for the fourth quarter show a significant strengthening of the positions of NVIDIA and a simultaneous decline in the share of AMD solutions.
According to the results of the period, NVIDIA graphics cards reached 94% of the market, which actually forms an almost monopoly position of the company in the segment of discrete graphics for desktop PCs.
AMD Radeon’s share continues to decline
The most noticeable trend in the report was the sharp negative dynamics of AMD Radeon graphics cards.
If in the fourth quarter of 2024 AMD solutions occupied about 15% of the market, then by the third quarter of 2025 their share decreased to 7%, and in the fourth quarter – to 5%. Thus, in one year Radeon’s presence in the discrete graphics card segment has actually decreased threefold.
At the same time, the total volume of graphics card shipments also decreased. According to the report, the market fell by 4.4%, and total shipments amounted to about 11.5 million devices.
An additional indicator is the installation rate of discrete graphics cards on desktop PCs. During the quarter, it decreased to 55%, which is 12.3% less than in the previous period.

Prices are rising, but availability is falling
The situation in the desktop processor segment looks more stable. CPU shipments decreased by 0.7% year-on-year, but at the same time grew by 9% compared to the previous quarter, reaching approximately 21 million units.
However, analysts emphasize potential risks for the PC market. One of the factors may be the increase in the cost of components, primarily RAM.
The situation in the graphics card market began to deteriorate noticeably in late 2025. GPU prices began to grow rapidly, and in early 2026, the increase in cost and availability problems became even more noticeable.
According to analysts, the key factors were the memory shortage and the associated price increases, as well as scalping, which intensified against the backdrop of limited supplies. US trade tariffs turned out to be a less significant factor than structural problems with the supply of components.
Despite some signs of stabilization, experts do not expect a quick improvement in the situation and allow further deterioration in the graphics card market.
