ZTE G5 Max ensures a stable 5G connection even when the signal is weak

The ZTE company introduced the ZTE G5 Max – an advanced street 5G router designed to provide high-speed Internet to locations where fiber optic laying is difficult or impossible. The device is designed as a full-fledged external station, capable of receiving a high-quality signal even in difficult conditions.

Powerful modem and reinforced antennas

G5 Max is a 5G FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) class solution, which can be placed on the facade or roof of a building to significantly improve the quality of communication, eliminating obstacles in the form of walls. The Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 modem is responsible for performance, which became the first solution with support for the 5G Advanced standard. The chip provides improved energy efficiency, operation with a wide range of frequencies (including n79) and high stability even at a weak signal level.

To enhance reception, the device uses antennas with a gain of 13 dBi and 4×4 MIMO technology, which allows the device to find a network where ordinary smartphones have a hard time.

Technical characteristics and capabilities of Wi-Fi 7

The router is focused on working with modern networks and supports the Wi-Fi 7 standard (IEEE 802.11be). The theoretical transfer speed reaches 3.6 Gbit/s. The system is able to serve up to 64 devices at the same time, which makes it an effective tool for small businesses, private homes or summer cafes.

It is especially worth noting the 2.5GbE interface with support for Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology. This greatly simplifies installation: power and data are transmitted over a single “twisted pair” cable, which eliminates the need to lay a power line to the location of the router.

To work in the network, you can use standard physical SIM cards of 4FF format or configure eSIM profiles.

Protection and operation in the field

The body of the device is protected according to the IP65 standard, which ensures resistance to precipitation and dust. The router is ready to work in extreme temperatures: from -40 °C to +55 °C. Such parameters are sufficient for stable operation both in harsh winter weather and in hot summer.

Management of settings, parental control and configuration of VPN tunnels (L2TP and PPTP) is carried out through the proprietary ZTE Smart Life application.

Device cost

In the Chinese domestic market, the price of the ZTE G5 Max is 2,499 yuan ($350, which is equivalent to approximately 325 euros/15,570 UAH in euros at the current exchange rate). At the moment, the manufacturer offers a promotional starting price: $335 (approximately 311 euros / 14,900 UAH).

A router is a powerful tool for creating an external network infrastructure. Considering Wi-Fi 7 support, IP65 protection standard and operation with modern frequencies, the purchase seems justified for users who need a reliable 5G connection outdoors with the possibility of a simple PoE connection.
