TCL X11L SQD Mini LED has surpassed professional monitors
15.05.26
The TCL X11L flagship Mini LED TV has made a real technological breakthrough, demonstrating in independent tests a brightness that officially exceeds the current standards of the video industry. While competitors are fighting for tenths of a percent of color accuracy, TCL engineers decided to use the power of ultra-efficient backlighting to create a device that changes the perception of dynamic range.
TCL X11L SQD (Super Quantum Dot) TV is the top solution in the brand line, built on the basis of advanced Mini LED technology. The main emphasis in this model is on extreme indicators of illumination and precision of light control. Well-known tech columnist Vincent Teo recorded a peak brightness of 11,000 nits when measuring the 85-inch panel. In comparison, the maximum limit of the PQ HDR10 standard is limited to 10,000 nits, making the TCL X11L actually brighter than HDR itself.
Thousands of blackout zones
Such results were achieved thanks to the unprecedented density of Mini LED elements. The model is available in two main versions:
- The 85-inch version is equipped with 14,400 local dimming zones.
- The 98-inch model received 20,736 independent backlight control zones.
A large number of control zones allows you to avoid the halo effect (blooming) around bright objects on a dark background, while maintaining a deep black color at the peak brightness of small details.

Super Quantum Dot technology provides an extended color coverage, which in combination with high brightness creates the most realistic reflections – sun rays on water or metallic shine.
Dazzling brightness and power consumption
It should be understood that 11,000 nits is a peak power for short-term effects in certain scenes. If the screen worked at this brightness across the entire area, the light flux would be about 68,800 lumens, which is comparable to professional stadium floodlights. However, high performance requires significant energy consumption: in HDR mode, the device consumes up to 690 W, while acting as a serious source of heat in the room. In the usual SDR mode, the appetite of the device is much more modest – 155 W.
At the moment, TCL X11L bypasses even the most expensive analogues. Yes, the premium 116-inch Hisense UX claims a peak brightness of 8,000 nits. The comparison with Hollywood professional equipment looks even more paradoxical: the Sony BVM-HX3110 reference monitor, which is used for editing movies, produces about 4,000 nits. Thus, the TCL home TV is now able to show details that were technically unavailable at the content editing stage.
Price and availability
The device is aimed at the premium segment. The price of the model on the Chinese market starts from 50,000 yuan, which is equivalent to about 283,000 hryvnias. ($6,900). This product is positioned as a demonstration of the brand’s technological dominance.
This TV is worth considering for those who are looking for an uncompromising HDR picture and have enough space in the living room. The model will be an ideal choice for lighted rooms where the brightness of OLED panels may not be sufficient. However, the buyer should be prepared for high energy consumption and an impressive price tag that corresponds to the status of an innovative flagship.
