Nubia Neo 5 Pro — an affordable gaming smartphone with flagship ambitions

Nubia has expanded its gaming lineup with the introduction of the Nubia Neo 5 Pro. The device is aimed at users who want strong gaming performance without paying flagship prices. It positions itself as a balanced solution, combining affordability with features tailored for mobile gaming.

Display and gaming controls

The smartphone features a large 6.8-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. A key highlight is the 144 Hz refresh rate, which ensures smooth visuals and responsiveness in fast-paced games.

Another notable addition is the presence of physical shoulder triggers on the side. These controls reduce reliance on touch input, freeing up to 15% of the display area and delivering a more console-like gaming experience where precision and speed are critical.

Hardware and cooling system

To maintain stable performance under load, Nubia implemented a hybrid cooling system. It combines a 4083 mm² vapor chamber with an active fan, helping keep device temperatures around 38.9°C even during extended gaming sessions.

Depending on the region, the device is powered by either the UNISOC T9100 or the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset. It offers up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. The smartphone runs on MyOS 16 based on Android 16.

Battery and camera capabilities

The device is equipped with a 6000 mAh battery supporting 80 W fast charging, allowing users to quickly recharge and get back to use.

Despite its gaming focus, the smartphone includes a capable camera setup. It features a 50 MP main sensor with AI-powered enhancements and a 16 MP front-facing camera suitable for video calls and everyday use.

Market positioning and availability

The Nubia Neo 5 Pro enters the market as a budget-friendly gaming device with features typically found in higher-end models. Its starting price is around $280.

Currently, the smartphone is available in China and select Southeast Asian markets. However, Nubia plans to expand availability globally, with a wider release expected in summer 2026.
