Baykar Unveils K2 Kamikaze Drone with AI and Swarm Capabilities

The Turkish defense company Baykar has introduced the K2, an aircraft-type strike drone designed for swarm operations. The UAV features the following dimensions:
- Wingspan: 10 meters
- Length: 5.1 meters
- Height: 2.1 meters
The K2 has a declared range of 2,000 kilometers and can carry a 200-kilogram warhead. It is capable of staying airborne for over 13 hours, reaching speeds of approximately 200 km/h.
AI and Navigation Systems
A key feature of the K2 is its integration of artificial intelligence for navigation, group interaction, and terminal guidance. Technical highlights include:
- GNSS-independent navigation: The platform uses visual terrain scanning via a gimbal camera and a bottom-mounted night vision system to operate in electronic warfare environments.
- Communication: Satellite data links support both Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) operations.
- Swarm Testing: The drone has already undergone flight tests as part of a 5-UAV swarm.
