Samsung Galaxy Fold folding smartphone presented – two screens, six cameras, dual battery
21.02.19
Samsung released the first prototype of a flexible screen back in 2011, but only now a serial device, and a very expensive one, with this kind of display will appear on the market.
A new polymer layer was used in the development, which reduced the thickness of the panel by half, providing the necessary flexibility, strength and durability. The company has also developed a new hinge mechanism that makes the Galaxy Fold open smoothly and naturally.

The connection module, hidden inside the smartphone body, protects the internal display part and folding mechanism, ensuring smooth operation even during intensive use.

As a result, the Samsung Galaxy Fold has a main screen with a diagonal of 7.3”withresolution QXGA+ on a Dynamic AMOLED matrix (4.2: 3) and additionalfront diagonal 4.6″</ strong> with resolution HD+ on matrix Super AMOLED (21:9).< /span>

Interestingly, there is no in-display fingerprint scanner here. It is located, like the Galaxy S10e, on the right side of the body. By the way, due to the design features of the device, the Samsung logo is also engraved on the end part.
The smartphone uses a special power system usingtwo batteries with a total capacity of 4275 mAh. Galaxy Fold supports accelerated wireless charging, and, similar to the Galaxy S10, can wirelessly replenish the battery capacity of other compatible mobile devices.
The operating system has also been improved for the dual screen. The smartphone allows you to keep up to three active applications open at the same time. The platform has support for two screens; applications can automatically open on one of the virtual desktops when one of the screens is folded. Samsung promises to optimize popular Google and Android apps for the new device format so that services like Facebook, WhatsApp or YouTube work optimally on the Galaxy Fold.

As for the hardware behind it all, Samsung said the Galaxy Fold uses a 7nm octa-core processor (apparently referring to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855) and 12GB of RAM. You can connect your smartphone to the Samsung DeX dock to create a desktop environment on a large external monitor screen.
The smartphone has six cameras in total. The Main is borrowed from the Galaxy S10+ (16-megapixel ultra-wide f/2.2; 12-megapixel wide, OIS, f/1.5 or f/2.4; 12-megapixel telephoto, OIS, f /2,4;). Double front is installed in one of the halves – 10 megapixel f/2.2 in combination with an 8-megapixel RGB depth camera f/1.9;. Another front camera (10 megapixels with f/2.2) is on the outside of one of the parts.

Samsung Galaxy Fold will be available in Space Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green and Astro Blue color options. It will cost $1,980 for the US market. There is no data on sales in Ukraine yet.
